The successful Green candidate was former naval officer and journalist, Stuart Heaver, who has lived in Whitstable for more than 20 years and will join fellow Green Councillor, Clare Turnbull, to serve local residents in the ward.
“Greens work hard all year round on local issues like sewage pollution, excessive luxury housing development that fail to meet local needs, and the uncontrolled spread of holiday lets—this was the focus of our campaign,” said Heaver.
“I am delighted to have won the by-election and very proud of Whitstable for staying Green.”
