Housing Developemnt
Right housing, right place, right price. Fighting excessive luxury housing development that fails to address local needs

Green Party campaigners in your area have been fighting against the spread of huge luxury housing developments on farmland and precious Greenfield sites being approved by the Labour/Lib Dem controlled Council.
We support the Save Brooklands Farmland and Save the Blean campaigns.
These houses are simply not required- Green Party research shows the Council have already approved enough new homes to accommodate three-times the official estimates of population
growth in this area.
- Failure to address local housing needs. Those unfortunate people sleeping in tents on the streets of Canterbury or on the beaches of our coastal towns will not be accommodated in these expensive detached homes.
- Wrong houses. There may be a housing crisis but there is certainly not a luxury executive home crisis. We need small affordable homes for local people on brownfield urban sites.
- Wrong place. They destroy precious farmland and green spaces and allow no easy access to local shops or public transport.
- No supporting infrastructure. Where is the additional wastewater treatment, water supply, GP places and school places? Our seas and beaches are already polluted with untreated sewage. What about the increased traffic congestion and air pollution?
