GREENS CAMPAIGNING HARD FOR SEATS ON KENT COUNTY COUNCIL

For the first time, The Green Party will be fielding candidates in all eight Divisions in the Canterbury District of the Kent County Council Elections to be held on 1st May 2025.

The Canterbury District campaign for the 2025 KCC elections was launched on the beach at Whitstable when Green Party deputy leader Zack Polanksi visited the area on 30th March 2025. Local Green Party candidate and City Councillor Stuart Heaver greeted Zack, and both spoke to Green Party members and supporters at the gathering along with Canterbury South candidate Henry Stanton.

Stuart said “We’re running an energised, positive campaign across the Canterbury District, aiming to get our first Green County Councillors elected in Whitstable West.

“People we’ve already spoken to on the doorstep are telling us that they’re tired of the old two party system that’s made little difference to their lives over the last few years and they want councillors who work hard all year, who listen to residents and who will prioritise what’s best for their communities.”

Nationally, the Green Party now hold over 800 seats in over 170 different councils – up massively from around 200 in 2018. More and more people are recognising that voting Green is your way of showing you believe a fairer, greener world is possible – and is worth fighting for.

There has never been a better time to join the Green Party, so if you are not already a member you can join here
